Personal Notes:
Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, and I'm told both grandparents (Mom's mom and Dad's dad) made slumgullion; however, I really only remember Grampa making it. Maybe that was because it was one of the only dishes Grampa actually cooked. Most days he was a TV dinner kind of man, but slumgullion was his specialty. I liked it best when Grampa snuck sausage into it. He would do it secretly because Dad claimed he didn't like sausage, but if Dad didn't know Grampa had added it, he wouldn't complain. It was a little joke between Grampa and me.

I don't know the exact recipe Grampa used, but this is an approximation.
