1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. flour
1c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
29 oz. can sliced peaches OR 1 qt. sliced fresh peaches**

**If peaches are packed in heavy syrup, you need no extra sugar, otherwise add the 1/2 c. of sugar.

Put butter or margarine into Pyrex baking dish and put into oven to melt a few minutes. Mix batter and add evenly to butter in Pyrex dish. Pour peaches with all liquid from can on top of batter. Bake for 1 hour at 300º (slow oven).
