2 sticks of butter, at room temperature
1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients, using hands to knead until everything is blended together. Press into ungreased pans, the dough should be about 1/2" thick. Before baking, mark lines to cut into squares or diamonds later. I also sprinkle the top with red and/or green sugar before baking if making for Christmas.

This recipe is very close to one my Mum (Dorothy Hilpert Johnson) made every Christmas when my brother John and I were kids. It was a favorite for sure in our house!
