1 c sugar
3/4 c shortening
1/4 c molasses
1 egg
2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat to 375º

Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add molasses and beaten egg, beat well. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Add to cream mixture. Blend together carefully so that all ingredients are mixed. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Dip in sugar and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. After baking, remove from sheet immediately.
