2 1/2 c. flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 1/4 c. bananas (3)
1/3 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
Whipped Cream Frosting
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. scalded milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Then add shortening, 1/3 c. buttermilk, and bananas. Once blended well, add additional 1/3 c. buttermilk and eggs. Beat for 2 minutes. Spread in 9 x 13 pan and bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes.
For frosting, beat butter and shortening until creamy. Add sugar 1 T. at a time, then add scalded milk 1 T. at a time. Finally, add vanilla. Frost cake and enjoy!

Banana Nut Cake is my great grandma Gilbert's recipe, and has been passed down through my family through several years. It is a favorite among our home when our bananas are a little past due!
