Braised Short Ribs Recipe

2 lb. beef short ribs,
2 T. oil
2 T. flour
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
I/8 tsp. pepper

2/3 c. sliced onions
2 c. boiling water
8 small carrots
4 peeled potatoes

2/3 c. Evaporated milk
1 can of green beans (14.5 oz.drained)

Mix flour, salt, paprika, and pepper together. Roll the short ribs in the flour mixture. Heat the oil and brown all the ribs. Drain all but 2 T. of grease from the frying pan. Move the ribs to the edges of the pan, then add the sliced onions to the middle of the pan. Simmer the onions and ribs for 5 minutes or so. Add the boiling water and cover tightly with lid and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours. Add carrots and potatoes and continue to cook until vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes. Remove meat and vegetables to a warm platter and cover. Stir Pet milk slowly into frying pan and add the drained green beans. Heat thoroughly and serve together with the meat and vegetables.

Although my Mum made this dish in a frying pan, I believe it might be adapted to a slow cooker or crock pot to simplify.
