1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. oatmeal

Directions:
Mix ingredients together and drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes. For a chewy cookie, do not overbake.

For Oatmeal Raisin Cookies: add about 3/4 c. raisins and 1 tsp. of cinnamon. For Chocolate Chip Cookies: add 1 1/2 c. chocolate chips.
