Take the existing starter out of the refrigerator and allow to reach room temperature.

Take existing starter out of refrigerator and allow it to reach room temperature. Stir starter until the liquid on top is all blended back into the starter. Put two cups flour in a medium bowl and add warm water so the batter is the consistency of pancake batter. Add one cup of the starter to the flour-water mixture and stir in. Throw the remaining starter away. Cover bowl and let sit out in a warm (room temperature) spot for 12-24 hours until it's all bubbly and smells sour. This is your new starter. Put new starter back into the starter jar and store in refrigerator.
