5 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon anise extract

Glaze:
1 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
4 tablespoons milk
Sprinkles or other cookie decor

Note: this recipe requires refrigeration.

Cut butter into flour with a pastry knife. Stir in sugar and baking powder and mix well. Lightly beat eggs, milk, and extracts together. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture. Knead until smooth.

Cover dough and refrigerate for one hour. Cut small pieces of the dough and roll out into pencil thin strips and then twist into knots.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until knots are slightly brown.

Mix together 1 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar and 4 tablespoons of milk to make a glaze. Dip cooled knots into glaze and top with colored sprinkles.
