1/2 cup Crisco
1 cup seedless raisins
1 cup applesauce
1 large egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 cup walnuts (optional)
1 cup fruit cake mix (optional but it makes it really good!)
1 tsp soda in 2 TBSP HOT water

Directions:

Preheat Oven to 350º

Blend shortening, sugar and egg until fluffy.
Add raisins and applesauce (sweetened for table use)
Add nuts and fruit cake mix.
Stir in spices, in swirl portions before flour is added.
Add four.
Pour in soda/hot water mix.

Bake 60 minutes.
