1/2 cup dry Navy beans
1/4 cup dry Pinto beans
1/2 cup dry Lima beans
1/4/cup dry Split Peas
1 1/2 quarts water
1 cup ham - cut into small pieces
1/2 package dry onion soup mix
1 medium onion-diced
2 carrots, small chunks
1 stalk celery - diced
1/4 cup butter or margarine
Salt & pepper to taste

Directions:

Melt butter, add onion & brown lightly.
Put beans in large pot - add water, ham, celery, carrots, and onion.
Simmer over medium heat until beans are tender - 2 hours on top of stove or 4 -5 hours in crock pot.

Very good made in the crock pot.
Rinse the dry beans the night before and leave to soak in water overnight.
