1 # ground chuck
1 medium onion, diced
1-1/2 T chili powder
1 T cumin
1/2 tsp garlic, minced
15 oz can chili beans
16 oz can tomatoes, diced
8 ounce can tomato sauce
1/4 cup green chilies, chopped
Grated sharp cheddar cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Brown the beef in a heavy pot.
Add the onion and garlic.
Cook until just soft.
Drain off any excess fat.
Add the remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for one hour.
Serve warm, garnished with cheese.

When Grandpa entered and won 1st prize at a church chili contest, it was suggested that he add ground cumin to his recipe... which he did - with obvious good results.
