1/2 lb. butter
4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
4 large eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. sugar
1 c. + 1 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped pecans

Mint Frosting Layer:
1/2 lb. butter
3 c. powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. milk
3 drops green food coloring
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract

Chocolate Glaze:
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 Tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter & chocolate over low heat. Beat eggs, vanilla, & sugar together until thick & creamy. Beat in melted & slighted cooled chocolate mixture. Mix together the flour, salt, baking powder & chopped nuts. Stir into batter & beat well. Pour into lightly greased 9 x 13 pan & bake at 350º F for 30-35 minutes. (Lower heat to 325º F for glass pan.) Cool, then top with mint frosting.

Mint Frosting Layer: Beat butter until light & fluffy; beat in powdered sugar, food coloring, milk & extract until smooth & creamy. Spread over cooled brownies & chill.

Chocolate Glaze: Melt together over low heat. Cool to almost room temperature & spread over mint frosting.

Cut into squares, then cover & chill to set glaze. Store in refrigerator. These freeze beautifully.

Lots of work -- but so worth it! This recipe is from Arlyce R from the late 1970's. In typing this, I don't think I ever froze them - they never lasted that long. The green layer really pops for a holiday dessert or if you want to wow her co-workers for St Patrick's Day.
