Four Onion Soup Recipe

1 medium yellow onion
1 medium red onion
1 medium leek (white portion only)
5 green onions with tops
1 garlic clove, minced
2 TBSP butter or margarine
2 cans (14 1/2oz) beef broth
1 can (10 1/2oz) beef consomme
1 tsp worchestershire sauce

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
6 slices french bread (3/4" thick toasted)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Slice all onions 1/4 inch thick.
2. In three quart saucepan over low to medium heat, saute onions and garlic in butter for fifteen minutes or until tender and golden. Stir occasionally.
3. Add broth, consomme and worchestershire sauce and bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for thirty minutes.
5. Sprinkle one tablespoon of swiss cheese in bottom of six oven proof eight ounce bowls.
6. Ladle hot soup in bowls.
7. Top each with slice of bread.
8. Sprinkle with remaining swiss cheese and broil to melt.
