1 pound hamburger meat
1 pound Weber's sausage, mild
1 pound cubed Velveeta cheese
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2 loaves Pepperidge Farm Party Rye

Directions:
Directions:
Brown hamburger and sausage, drain off fat. Add cubed cheese and stir until melted. Add spices. Mound about 1 tablespoon onto each slice of rye bread. Broil until hot and bubbly.

This recipe can be made ahead and partially frozen on cookie sheets so topping will not stick. To store, place in large plastic bags for freezing. To defrost, microwave on low for 3-3 1/2 minutes for faster broiling.

Serves 10 or more.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
We always have these at family gatherings and they are the thing my vegan aunt misses most. This recipe comes from the Wyoming High School Cookbook, back in the 1970s. The cookbook is now held together with a rubber band.
