2 ounces whiskey (or bourbon, but not rye whiskey)
1 ounce apricot brandy
1 ounce Swedish punsch
Splash of water
Garnish with a smoked or dried apricot

Mix (stir) together with a block of ice (one big one if you have a mold, if not, you can use regular ice cubes) in a rocks glass/short tumbler. Add a smoked or dried apricot as garnish.

The Leatherman is a whiskey-based cocktail incorporates a smokey undertone with the addition of Swedish punsch* and a deeper tone of sweetness with the apricot brandy. It is based on a cocktail I love from a small restaurant in Litchfield County, Connecticut. (*Swedish punsch can be ordered at most good liquor stores. It’s a bit like a smoky rum and is imported by Kronan distributors.)
