8 quarts of popped popcorn (remove unpopped kernels)
1 C. syrup
1/2 C. sugar
1/2 t. cream of tartar
1 T. vinegar
1 t. soda
2 t. vanilla
2 T. butter
Food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Bring syrup, sugar, vanilla, and cream of tartar to a boil. Boil until it reaches the soft ball stage. (If you drop a small ball of liquid into a glass of cold water, it will hold together in a soft ball) Add food coloring, butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted. Add soda and vinegar to the hot liquid. Pour over popcorn as it foams. Stir popcorn as you do this. Let cool. Form into balls, when cool enough to handle. You may dip your hands into cool water to make forming balls easier.
