Directions: |
Directions:Cream butter & brown sugar. Add vanilla & egg. Sift together dry ingredients. Add half of dry ingredients, alternating with milk & the other half. Stir in nuts, raisins & apples. Bake at 400º F for 8 - 10 min. (Funny that in many of my older recipes, the basics of recipes are omitted - like drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet - must have made so many cookies, I figured some things were second nature.)
Glaze: Make thin glaze by combining powdered sugar, vanilla, & milk. Spread glaze on the top of the cookies with a pastry brush while cookies are still hot. I put the cookies from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack so any excess icing/glaze falls off away from the cookies.
These freeze well. |

Personal
Notes: Lots of ingredients, but so worth for the flavor you get. Love to make these in the fall.
Another apple recipe... Love that my daughter, Jessica, has been working at the apple orchard in Platte City the last two falls. I assisted with the SBA package for the orchard in their early days, and it's great to see them still growing. Jessie seems to enjoy learning about apples - so the tradition continues with apples in our family.
