1 c. shortening or margarine
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream (8 oz.)
6 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda.

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix in the sour cream, then gradually mix in the flour, salt and baking soda using an electric mixer.

Roll dough out onto a floured board until 1/4" thick. Using a round 3" cookie cutter, cut, place on cookie sheets and bake at 325º for 10 minutes or until firm but not browned. Sprinkle tops with sugar while still hot, transfer to wire racks and cool.

This recipe makes a double batch.
