1 C. sugar
1/2 C. shortening
3 eggs
1 1/2 C. flour
1/2 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
1 C. brown sugar
1 C. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the sugar and shortening. Add 1 egg and 2 egg yolks (reserve the 2 egg whites), flour, salt and vanilla. Press in square or oblong baking pan 1/2 inch thick. Beat the 2 egg whites until stiff. fold in brown sugar and nuts. Spread on top of first mixture and bake at 325º for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
