1 C. sugar
1/2 C. shortening
1 eggs, beaten
3 well-ripened bananas, mashed
1 1/2 T. buttermilk
1 t. lemon juice
1/2 t. soda
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/4 t. salt
2 C. flour
1 C. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well after each addition. Then , add bananas, buttermilk and lemon juice. Stir well. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in gradually. Add nuts. Bake in a large loaf pan at 325º for 1 hour.
