3 lb. Hamburger (or ground turkey, Maria)
1 cup chopped celery
10 slices lightly toasted bread
1 can tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste

Brown ground meat
add salt and pepper
add tomato paste and a couple of cans full of water
add celery, cook until tender (you can cut easily with a fork)
While the meat is cooking toast bread
shred toast into bite size pieces
stir toast into meat mixture

This was originally made by my grandmother Condel............after moving to Wisconsin, she was given a recipe for turkey stuffing............the original was from a German neighbor and included more spices and probably sausage. (No turkeys in Greece, so she had no idea how to stuff or or cook a turkey!) Your papou was a very picky eater as a child.......ate mainly hamburger.........this was a simplifies recipe he would eat! He taught my mother how to make this...........and the Malfas' loved it, too! Tradition!!
