2 c. all-purpose flour
2½ t. baking powder
½ t. salt
⅓ c. shortening
¾ c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

2. Cut in shortening with a fork until mixture resembles coarse corn meal.

3. Add milk and blend lightly with fork only until flour is moistened and dough pulls away from sides of bowl.

4. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead lightly (30 seconds) and roll to 3/4 inch thickness.

5. Cut with biscuit cutter, dipping cutter into flour before each cut.

6. Place on lightly greased pan and bake at 475º for 12 to 15 minutes.

Optional: Brush with butter or margarine before baking although mom didn't do this
