"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

1 1/2 c. Crisco or 1 3/4 c. butter
1 egg
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 c. water, cold
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Cut together flour and Crisco. In separate bowl or cup, stir together egg, vinegar, water and salt, blend very well. Pour a little of the liquid mixture into the flour mixture and mix until damp using two forks. Add the rest of the liquid and mix until combined, don’t over mix. Dump dough onto wax paper and form into a ball using the edges of the paper. It is important to not touch the dough with your hands, the warmth will melt the Crisco and result in a non-flaky crust. Let the dough ripen for at least 20 mins before rolling out.
