5 C. all purpose flour( or 4 C. flour and 1 C. powdered sugar) depends on how sweet you like your cookies
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 C. butter, unsalted,melted and cooled
1/3 C. half & half coffee cream or heavy cream
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 C. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
1 C. finely chopped nuts of choice
10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, drain, chop and dry
GLAZE:
2 Tbsp. butter
4-5 Tbsp. maraschino cherry juice
2 C. powdered sugar- more or less

Directions:
1. Combine the first 3 ingredients in a small bowl; whisk and set aside. Beat together the eggs,sugar and vanilla in a larger mixer bowl for 3 minutes. Add cooled butter, cream, and cherry pieces to the egg mixture.
2. Using the paddle of the mixer now, add the flour mixture and nuts to the mixture; blend until dough holds to the paddle. Remove dough. Place on plastic wrap and shape into a disk- wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
3. Heat oven to 350. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or grease well. Set aside. Remove dough from refrigerator and scoop small amounts of dough about the size of a doughnut ball. Place on cookie sheets . Bake 10-12 minutes. Allow cookies to cool completely before glazing.
4. Glaze: Heat butter and 2 Tablespoons of the cherry juice in a microwave safe bowl until butter melts. Stir in 2 cups of the powdered sugar. Add more juice to make of desired consistency for glaze. Glaze the whole cookie and place on a wire rack with a wax paper under the rack to catch any drips, until glaze sets. Makes 6 to 7 dozen cookies.

When I make these cookies, I put the cherries and nuts through the meat grinder. Ultimately, they are at the top of my holiday baking list. They are that good!
