Lean, thinly-sliced pastrami or corned beef
Swiss cheese, sliced
Sauerkraut
Rye bread or pumpernickel
Thousand Island dressing or French dressing

Construct sandwich:
- Apply dressing to the bread (both pieces)
- Add pastrami or corned beef
- Add DRAINED sauerkraut
- Add sliced swiss cheese
- Place the remaining piece of bread on top

Lightly butter outsides of bread and brown both sides in a skillet over medium low heat until cheese is melted.
