2 pieces boneless skinless chicken breast
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup flour
1/2 lb fresh shrimp
sausage (cut up)
3 slices bacon (cut up)
salt and pepper to taste
4 cups water
1/2 onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 cup okra
File seasoning to taste, about 1 Tbsp.
cooked rice

Directions:
Directions:
Brown chicken in oil. Remove chicken. Make a rue in skillet by browning flour and oil.
Add salt, pepper and water. Stir. Pour into crock pot. Add the browned chicken, sausage, bacon, and shrimp, and chopped vegetables. Cook for about 6 hours on low setting.
Just before done, add okra and cook only until tender. Add File seasoning and stir. Serve over cooked rice.

This is an original recipe from Louisiana given to me by a coworker, Lucille Haynes who grew up in Louisiana. She gave me some File seasoning she brought from the south, but one can buy file in the spice aisle or near the fresh fish counter of most major grocery stores.
