2 lb. cleaned fish
2 c. tomatoes
1 c. water
1 slice onion
3 cloves
3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
Dash pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cook tomatoes, water, onion, cloves and sugar together for 20 minutes. Melt the butter, add flour, and stir into the tomato mixture. Add salt and pepper. Cook for ten minutes and strain.

Place the cleaned fish into a baking pan. Pour half of the tomato sauce mixture around the fish and bake for 35 minutes. Be sure to baste often. Use a medium flame. Remove the hot platter from the stove and pour around the remaining sauce. Garnish with parsley (optional).

Grandma's first stove was a New Perfection Stove, back in the 1920's. They advertised in the accompanying cookbook that you could prepare an entire meal for 2 cents. This recipe was very simple and a good way to make something for Friday dinner.
