1 cup sugar
2 tbsp shortening(tenderflake lard)
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
2 cups boiling water

2 pkgs yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
2 well beaten eggs

7 cups flour
4 tsp cinnamon
1 tp allspice
1 tsp cloves
2 cups raisons

Mix together sugar, 2 tbsp shortening, 2 tbsp flour and salt. Pour 2 cups boiling water over all.

Soak 2 envelopes yeast in 1 cup warm water and 1 tsp sugar. Let stand until first mixture is lukewarm. About 10 minutes. Add yeast and 2 well beaten eggs to the first mixture.

In large bowl, mix 7 cups of flour with cinnamon, allspice, cloves and raisons. Pour liquid mixture over flour mix and knead well on floured surface. Put in greased bowl. Cover with greased wax paper and then a towel. Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.

Punch down dough and form into buns about the size of large eggs. Place in straight rows on greased pans. Let rise another 1 1/2 hours. Heat oven to 375 ºF. Cut crosses on top of buns with sharp buttered knife. Bake for 15 minutes. Glaze with 2 tbsp sugar and 2 tbsp water. Bake for 10 or 15 minutes longer. Remove from pans and glaze again. Ice with icing sugar.
