2 quarts milk
6 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Heat milk in a double boiler. Beat eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl until thickened. Stir in milk. Cool until thickened, stirring constantly. Let stand until cool, stir in vanilla. Cover and chill in refrigerator.
