3/4 c sliced peaches in heavy syrup
3/4 c canned pineapple chunks with heavy syrup
1 4 oz. jar red maraschino cherries, drained and halved
1 1/2 c sugar
1 package dry yeast
Additional 1/2 c sliced peaches in heavy syrup
Additional 1/2 c pineapple with heavy syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Combine 3/4 c. peaches with syrup, 3/4 c. pineapple chunks with syrup cherries, sugar and yeast in gallon glass jar with wide mouth lid. Stir in yeast-MIX WELL. Stir twice a day with long wooden spoon first day. Keep loosely covered. DO NOT refrigerate. Stir once a day thereafter for 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks add additional 1/2 c. peaches and pineapple. Let stand several days, stirring daily. After several days drain 2 c. mixed fruit mixture. You can give the 2 cups of starter to a friend, use as topping for ice cream, cake or cottage cheese. Or you can make a cake - directions for Friendship cake are in the cake section.

To keep your Friendship Fruit going follow these directions for remaining fruit after you use the 2 cups.

Day you take 2 cups out add items below to remaining 1 1/2 cup starter
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 large can of sliced peaches

Day 10 add
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 large can chuck pineapple

Day 20 add
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 large can fruit cocktail
1 jar maraschino cherries

Day 30
Divide fruit into 2 cup portions for cake, toppings or to give to friends. Keep 1 1/2 cup to keep your fruit going. Repeat steps above every 30 days.
