1 2/3 c. flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. melted shortening
1/3 c. water
1 c. pumpkin
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift the flour with sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt. Add the melted shortening, water, mashed pumpkin, eggs and nuts. Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 325º for one hour and 15 minutes. Allow to stand for 24 hours before slicing.
