2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
5 eggs
2 cups flour
Flavoring (usually a mixture of vanilla and lemon)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flour, folding in with very little beating. Add flavoring.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 55 minutes or an hour. I bake this in a tube pan.

(Mrs. Rooker was my second grade teacher. As of the date I am typing this recipe—December 5, 2002, she is still living. In her 90’s. She gave me this recipe in 1961.)
