Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoons soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup lightly mashed bananas
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup sour milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift sugar. Beat butter until soft. Add sifted sugar gradually. Blend ingredients until light and creamy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
Sift the cake flour before measuring. Resift with the baking powder, soda and salt.
Add sifted ingredients to butter mixture in about 3 parts alternately with thirds of banana mixture. Beat until smooth after each addition. Add vanilla and sour milk.
Bake in 2 9-inch layer pans at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. (Mama often made this in a
loaf pan.) If made in layers you may frost with your favorite icing. (I like banana
frosting)
You could add nuts to this if you like. Mama usually did not.
