1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup lard
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cup (approx) ice cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and lard until well blended Combine dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture, mix with pastry blender until crumbly. Gradually stir in water, mixing to make a moist dough.
Turn out onto well-floured surface; dust with flour, then knead lightly just until it can be handled and rolled easily. Makes enough for 1 double-crust pie.

This is the pastry recipe that goes with the tourtiere. I ended up buying the pastry crusts but if you really want the traditional recipe then this would be the pie crust recipe.
