Cookies:
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup evaporated milk
2 3/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup chopped walnuts

Burnt Butter Frosting:
2 TBSP butter
2 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk

Cookies:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugars and eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and salt; stir in. Blend in nuts. Chill 1 hour. Drop by rounded tablespoons 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake about 10 minutes until delicately browned. While slightly warm, frost with Burnt Butter Frosting.

Frosting:
Heat butter until golden brown. Beat in confectioners sugar and milk until smooth. Ice cookies while they are still slightly warm
