Dough
2 pkg yeast & 1 tsp sugar
3/4 C warm water
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 C melted shortening
1/2 C sugar
1 1/4 C buttermilk
5-6 C flour

Filling
Scant 1 C sugar ( I use half white & brown sugar)
6 T room temp butter & 1-2 T cinnamon

Icing
2 C powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 T milk
1-2 T butter

Directions:
Combine yeast 1 tsp sugar, & warm water set aside 10-15 minutes until foamy
Combine yeast mixture with 2 cups of the flour with remaining ingredients. Beat with mixer 2 minutes until smooth.Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff dough. Kneed on floured surface for about 5 minutes. Roll out to rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
Combine filling ingredients spread over dough to edges. Roll up starting on long side of rectangle snug but not too tight of roll pinch edges to seal.
Cut with floured knife into about 1 inch slices, place cut side down in greased baking pan. Cover with flour sack like tea towel. Let rise until double in size. (30-60 minutes) Bake 350º 20-30 mintues until light brown. Cool some with powdered sugar frosting.

FOR PECAN ROLLS
Mix 1 C brown sugar, 1/2 C butter,1 tsp cinnamon 1 C chopped pecans
Put in bottom of greased pans then place cut rolls on top let rise the bake.
after done baking invert on large tray let set a couple minutes to let pecan mixture to dizzle over rolls. remove pans and enjoy!
