Maple Sticks - Sweet Roll Dough Recipe

Ingredients: Melt 1/2 c. margarine or butter - set aside. Put in bowl: 3 c. warm water plus 3 T. yeast and 1 c. sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes without stirring. Then dump in a 12oz. can of evaporated milk. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add 2 beaten eggs. Mix. Add 6 c. flour. Then add 3 tsp. salt and melted butter. Add 6 more cups of flour. Grease 2 large bowls and put about half in each bowl. Spray plastic wrap with PAM and place over dough. Refrigerate overnight.
In morning, take one bowl out and cut dough in 2 or 3 pieces. Roll one piece of dough to about 1/4" thick and about 12" wide and whatever length. Slice strips about 1/2" thick. Twist in half and seal ends. Place on lightly floured cookie sheet. Continue rolling, twisting and placing on cookie sheet. Place in a warm place to raise. When your ready to fry, put about a quart of canola oil in electric fryer and heat to medium high to high. Place several twists into hot oil and when brown on one side turn over, but do no poke with fork. Remove to a rack to cool. Frost and let set up.

Notes: Family favorite. Mom used to make these and put in freezer. My brothers would come home from school and sneak a few out and eat them frozen. Sometimes when Mom went to get some, there were only empty boxes.
