1/2 c. shortening
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs unbeaten
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and chocolate. Add sugar, vanilla; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add nuts to flour and then to chocolate mixture. Mix well.
Chill dough for several hours.
Form into small balls, roll in powdered sugar. Place on cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º for 12-15 minutes.
