Directions:
The McMullen siblings grew up on coffee and toast for breakfast
You would have a cup of instant coffee with milk with either sugar toast (buttered toast sprinkled with sugar) or cinnamon/sugar toast (buttered bread, sprinkled with sugar & cinnamon)
Scrambled eggs & potatoes were a biggie
Oatmeal that was actually cooked on the stove with toast
Pancakes that were made from scratch and probably maple syrup from Schaefer's.
Mush which was not a big hit

Never had breakfast if you were going to communion at school or on Sunday. Back in the day you had to fast until you "took communion". Not even water. If you had communion at school, you took something to eat. Sometimes Mom gave you a Hostess Twinkie and that was a big treat. You took it in a brown paper bag and kept the bag to reuse.

Personal Notes:
Growing up, cereal was not something we ate a lot of.
