Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Fresh turnip greens
Turnip roots
Ham hock
Salt
Crush red pepper flakes
Sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Wash turnips at least 3 times. In first washing put one drop of dish soap, then a couple more washing, remove stems, and push down in pot. Peel roots and cut up. Add water, ham hock, and seasoning. Cook slowly around 45 minutes to an hour depending on the amount of greens. It takes a lot of fresh greens since they cook down.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
When Jamie was a little boy he would always say "get all the sticks" out. He meant the stems. Cleaning and preparing fresh greens is a labor of love!
Be sure and cook cornbread so you can crumble it in the "pot-likker".
