3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. light molasses
1 beaten egg
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar; add molasses and egg. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture. Mix well.

Roll into small balls and dip into sugar. Place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 15 minutes. Yields 4 dozen.
