Cake:
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 c. sour milk

5 T. oleo
1/2 c. milk
6 oz. chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
For cake, cream the sugar, eggs & shortening well. Add the cocoa, salt and vanilla; beat again. Mix together the soda and sour milk. Add to the other ingredients and beat. Add the flour and beat well. Last of all, add the boiling water (secret of the cake). The batter will seem thin, but it should be that way.

Pour in a greased and lightly floured 9x13" cake pan. Bake at 325º for 30 minutes until done. Test with toothpick.

For icing, bring the sugar, oleo and milk to a boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips. When the chips are melted, spread the icing on the cake.

Personal Notes:
If you don't have sour milk, you can make it. Use 2 tsp. vinegar in a 1/2 cup measuring cup and fill with sweet milk.
