2 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 cup sesame seed, divided
1/3 cup dark corn syrup
1 egg, separated
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
1, In medium bowl, stir together flour and salt. With pastry blender or two knives, cut in margarine until coarse crumbs form. Stir in cheese, 3/4 cup of the sesame seed, corn syrup, egg yolk, cream of tartar and baking soda. With fork, mix just until blended. Cover, refrigerate 15 minutes.

2. On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 3 X 3/4 inch rectangles. Place on greased cookie sheet 1/4 inch apart.

3. Brush with beaten egg white; sprinkle with remaining sesame seed. Bake in 350º oven 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Note: Recipe may be doubled.
