"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
• 4 lb lean beef roast (rump roast is leaner than chuck roast)
• 1 can cream of mushroom soup
• 1 envelope Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing (in a box)
• 1 envelope McCormick’s mushroom gravy mix
• Optional: onions, carrots, peas, celery, etc.

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cut the roast in half so you have two 2 lb sections.
2. In a slow cooker, mix cream of mushroom soup, ranch dressing mix, and mushroom gravy mix.
3. Add to the mix, ½ can of water; but no more than that because it will make the gravy runny.
4. Add the roast to the slow cooker, turning it over and coating it in the liquid.
5. Cook in a crockpot on low for 6 hours, or in an oven at 350 degrees for 3 hours.
6. When the meat is done, open the crock pot and put the roast on a cutting board. Slice the roast in slices, so that the gravy can get in-between the roast slices. It makes it so much more tender and moist.
7. Put the sliced roast back in the crock pot in the gravy sauce and stir it around to coat the roast slices. (Keep in crockpot at low heat for another 15 minutes.)
8. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes

Personal Notes:
You may wish to add onions, celery and carrots at the end of the cooking cycle. You can cook your chopped-up veggies on the stove or cook your veggies in the oven instead. Adding the veggies at the beginning makes them real mushy and yuck.
