1 box elbow macaroni
2 – 2 ½ pounds cheese (Colby, cheddar, or mix of preferred cheeses but not American), sliced 1/8 inch thickness or 3-4 (2 cups each) bags of shredded cheese
½ cup milk
Butter

Directions:
Directions:
Boil macaroni until done (al dente). In a baking pan (13 X 9 or 9-10 inch round Corning ware of Pyrex) layer macaroni and cheese, finishing with a layer of cheese on the top. Pour milk slowly over the top and dot with butter.

Bake in 350° oven for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is melted and beginning to brown on the edges.

Serve with crusty bread and cole slaw.

I had always thought that the best macaroni and cheese came from the blue Kraft Macaroni & Cheese box. While that is good, this is the macaroni and cheese the family loves.

It is so nice to take the steaming casserole from the oven on a cold winter night and watch as everyone digs in. I usually dress mine with a bit of ketchup but the purists in the family never needed anything to make this one of the their favorites.
