1 1/3 C. sugar
1 C. milk
2 1/2 C. flour
1 T. vanilla
1/2 C. butter or shortening
whites of 2 eggs
pinch of salt
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with the cup of milk. Beat egg whites until they stand in peaks and fold them in last. Bake in moderate oven. Makes 24 cupcakes or is good as a two layer cake.
