1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 large eggs
2 1/2 c. oatmeal
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. raisins, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugars and shortening; add eggs; beat well. Add oats and blend well. Add flour that has been sifted with soda and baking powder. Stir in nuts and raisins. Make into rolls and refrigerate overnight. Slice 1/4-inch thick and bake at 375º F until light brown.

This dough can be frozen before slicing. This was Grandma Rinne's standby cookie dough and makes a large batch. Instead of raisins sometimes she would add 2 c. of chocolate chips.
NOTE: If raisins are dry, plump a little in water or orange juice.
