Ingredients: Full Recipe:
8 cups flour 2 tsp. salt 16 Tbsp. solid crisco shortening 3 cups milk 4 quarts chicken broth Black pepper to taste 2 whole chickens
Half Recipe:
4 cups flour 1 tsp. salt 8 Tbsp. solid crisco shortening 1 1/2 cups milk 2 quarts chicken broth 1 whole chicken

Directions: |
Directions:Boil chicken 30 minutes or until cooked through, remove from broth and set aside to cool, once cool debone the chicken and put back in broth.
Combine flour & salt; cut in shortening add enough milk to make a stiff dough. Flour counter top & rolling pin, roll very thin and cut into squares. Add flour as needed to keep from sticking. Drop dumplings into boiling broth a few at a time. Sprinkle with pepper when broth boils over the dumplings then add another layer.
Stir dumplings frequently to keep from sticking, (if your dumplings start sticking to the bottom of the pan "DO NOT SCRAP" or your dumplings will be scorched and taste as such. Provided you don't scrap the bottom other layers are protected |

Notes: A huge family favorite, that everyone loves! I have enjoyed teaching my children and grandchildren how to make chicken dumplings. Its always fun watching them get floured hand prints on their bottoms as well as noses and we always have a blast making them!!
