6 small or 5 medium apples (Granny Smith)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice

1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter (1cube) softened*

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and cut apples in cubes. Place apples in greased 8 x 8 pan. Sprinkle spices on top of apples. Distribute water and lemon juice over apples and spices. Mix flour, sugar and butter together until crumbly. Spread topping over apples and bake uncovered at 425º for 10 minutes, then 325º for 35 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

*If doubling recipe use 13 x 9 pan.
